Two Witness Ministries was established by Peter and Doris Smith in 1988. God has called us to reach the spiritual leaders of the nations with the scriptural principles of the Moral Government of God. Peter was converted to Christ while a senior at Michigan State University in 1971. He met his future wife while working with a ministry in South Dakota while pursuing his Master of Science degree at South Dakota State University. Peter and Doris Smith were married in 1976 and moved to the family farm. Peter and Doris have been involved in overseas mission work since 1986. For 10 years, Peter taught in about 20 Bible Schools in the Philippines, India, Ukraine, Ghana, Liberia, Benin and Nigeria with International Bible School Ministry. Since 2002 TWM has graduated over 500 intensive short term Bible Schools in the nations of Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda.
Two Witness Ministries currently has a wonderful team of well trained teachers reaching out to many nations of Africa. The key element of our program is to make our methods and procedures capable of being duplicated by those whom we teach, and to encourage them to take what they have learned and share it with others. In addition to his missionary work, Peter has been the pastor of the Maple Grove Community Church for the past 18 years.
We take seriously the great commission of the Lord Jesus Christ, who said: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” The procedure which is used by Two Witness Ministries to obey this command to make disciples of the nations is threefold:
1. To open short term Bible Schools and teach spiritual leaders in an intensive, 3 hour/day, 7 month, tuition free Bible School.
2. Provide opportunities for the top spiritual leaders of each school to become teachers at subsequent schools. (We have found that when one teaches a subject, he has to really master it. You learn much while a student, you learn much more by teaching the same subjects.)
3. To provide opportunities for those spiritual leaders, who have gone through the proceeding steps, 1. & 2., to network together across cultures, tribes and nations for their mutual encouragement, unity and cooperation in the work of spreading the gospel to the nations.
Peter & Doris Smith
Peter and Doris Smith serve the Lord faithfully and have been a team since 1976. Peter's chosen occupation is that of a farmer, but his willingness to serve the Lord takes him far beyond the family farm. Peter, Doris and their family of four (Quentin, Nathan, Mikaela, and Natasha) praise God for the opportunity to share his word with many in other nations. In their early years, the family was involved ministry in Russia, China, the Philippines, and India. In 2001 Peter became the president of Two Witness Ministries and continues to spread the Good News to the nations of Africa.
